Financial Advisor Dallas Texas
How can I become a hedge fund manager?
I’m a 29 year old attorney in Dallas, Texas. I went to a top 15 law school. My undergraduate degree is in psychology. I study business and finance on my spare time and am fascinated by this type of trading. If I’d had a clue about it at the time, I might not have gone to law school.
So how can an intelligent, entreprenuerial, ambitious guy like myself get into this game from where I am now? I’m single and willing to sacrifice my social life. A friend may be able to get me a starter financial advisor position at a major firm. Is that a good entree? If so, what should I do next? If not, what should I do instead?
Thanks in advance for the wisdom.
There’s a few directions you could go. One may be gettign an MBA in finance andfocusing on courses in the field you are interested in. Learn about hedge funds through books and try to land a jr. position at a hedge fund company/mutual fund company and work your way up.
A financial advisor position, in my opinion, is a bit off track of what you are looking for because it doesnt have the analytical
aspect that you need to become a hedge fund manager. You could try going to broker websites learning what financial advisor entails. However, the financial advisor position will teach you the basic concepts of the stock market and offering financial advice. Check the training program.
Good luck. Gotta live the dream.
