Hey. Ive been hired by a financial advisory firm and have passed my Series 6 and 63. Now that im starting to work, they want me to list all my contacts on a sheet of paper (presumably so either myself or the company can contact them). Now, my question is: is this a sleazy practice or is it common among financial advisory firms? Either way, the firm wins, right, because they’ll have all the contacts for future use even if i don’t end up using them (if i end up quitting, etc)? Let me know what you guys think?
I used to have my series 7 and 63 as well insurance. My firm made me do the same thing. I was not comfortable calling on my friends and family. Maybe that’s why I only lasted a year as a broker. As a Financial Adviser you won’t be under the same pressure to sell the stock of the day. You may just want to list the names of those that you are willing to call on.
